Criner's Chronicles

We had our first varsity tournament this past weekend at Arlington High. We took 10 out of our 15 varsity guys, we are still waiting for our football guys to get into wrestling shape. With those 10 guys we were still able to get a 6th place finish, with only about 10 points seperating 2nd and 6th. We were able to place 5 out of those 10 guys in that tournament.

We will have a TRI with Midlothian and Grand Prairie tonight, start time is 6:00 p.m. This is a varsity only event.

We did have a quad scheduled with Rockwall and 2 other teams this weekend, however those 2 other teams dropped out this past week. We are trying to find a replacement tournament to attend to this weekend, if not we will just have a dual with rockwall this saturday morning. Keep you posted on any changes. This will be both varsity and jv.

Criner's Chronicles 2

Parents/Supporters

I just wanted to send out an update on our tournament coming up this weekend at Arlington High School. This friday will be boys and girls varsity only, saturday will be boys varsity, girls varsity, and all junior varsity wrestlers. I will attach the informational flyer to this email. This tournament consists of 33 teams, and we are looking forward to the challenge.

I also want to say thank you to all the parents that made an appearance this past Tuesday to watch us practice/scrimmage with Hebron.

On November 19th, we will have our booster club meeting. I highly encourage all of our parents who want to be involved to attend. This meeting should not take longer than 30 minutes. It will be at 6:00 at SGP's Keel Theatre.

I look forward to seeing you all there at the tournament this weekend, and at the booster club meeting next Thursday. Coach Criner

Coach Criner Chronicles 1

Parents/Supporters

Just wanted to give you an FYI on how the season is going so far, as well as some upcoming events.

Our wrestling after school practice for our high schools as been in full swing for over a month now. We have been practicing extremely hard and really pushing the wrestlers. On Tuesday Hebron high school will be arriving at SGP around 3:30 (depending on traffic). This will be a practice/scrimmage, its a good way for our wrestlers to get some different looks from opposing school wrestlers. I encourage any parent/supporter that wants to attend to please do so, this will be great for any parents new to wrestling to see how it is done. That practice will go a bit longer, and end around 6. This practice will also provide parents the opportunity to see our wrestling facilities as well as our new weightlifiting facilities. Also, next weekend we will have our first tournament at Arlington High, it will be for our boys and girls, both varsity and JV.

Football players who are freshmen will begin practice next week.

Practice for football players who are on Varsity and JV is dependent on if we get in the playoffs or not.

Also, our booster club has purchased and hoisted the SGP Wall of State sign. It is mounted in the wrestling room, please feel free to come by and take a look at it. I wanted to say thanks for all those that helped me with the UIL archived information on the wrestlers. Also, a sincere thank you to Mr. Patten and Mr. Ortiz for putting in the work to get that sign hoisted and mounted.

Wrestling practice for middle schoolers and elementary kids begins next week. Practice times for those wrestlers is attached to this email.

Also, 6 weeks tests and grades go in next week, if your wrestler is struggling with classes please let me know ASAP. Coach Criner
